An unexpected

meeting

This little ring became part of the history of Cà Zanengius in 1942, during World War II, when little Anna was just seven years old.
Ornavasso was an area of intense activity for both partisan and Nazi-Fascist forces, and the mountains served the main purpose of shelter for the partisans unities and the party opposition.
One day, while little Anna was grazing the goats, thirsty, she decided to stop by a stream to drink.
Wyle drinking, she saw, through the reflection of the water, a tall figure next to her.
Frightened, she turned abruptly to see who owned that figure she couldn't recognize, and when
she finally came face to face with this person, she realized he was a stranger to her, but immediately understood he was a soldier, judging by his uniform and the rifle hanging from his shoulder.

The person in front of her was a handsome young man (according to Grandma): tall, with blond hair and blue eyes. When he saw that little girl in front of him, he stopped and stared at her motionless for 5 minutes, then burst into tears, for some emotion impossible to unterstand for little Anna.
After composing himself, the young soldier decided to tear the button from his chest pocket and gift it to the frightened child, unable to understand the reason for his tears. He kissed her on the head, filled his water bottle, and marched on without saying a word.
Two weeks passed since this curious encounter, and bad news arrived from Ornavasso: a few kilometers north of the town, there had been a roundup by a Nazi squadron, in which many partisans lost their lives. Among the bodies, one stood out in particular, a handsome young man
tall, with blond hair and blue eyes: the button soldier.

Once identified through his personal effects, it was found that he was a Georgian soldier who had joined the resistance in the Alps in one of Ornavasso‘s partisan battalions. The reason why this soldier burst into tears at the sight of little Anna remains a mystery. Grandma supposed it was because she reminded the soldier of a family member lost during the conflict and the possible reason for joining the resistance, unfortunately we will never know for sure.

Growing up, Anna always carried the silver button given by the Georgian soldier in her wallet, and one day, fearing she might lose such a precious object, she decided to turn it into a ring, so she could always have it with her, knowing she had found a safe place to keep it: her hands.
To pass on this exciting story, she decided to create two gold copies of her precious ring.

These two copies are still in the safe hands of her grandsons Andrea and Paolo.
